Early Day Motions
One of the ways you can ask your MP to influence the government is through supporting Early Day Motions (EDMs). Some EDMs you can ask them to support are:
- EDM 462 (Gregory Barker MP) - GMOs and consumer choice. (Supports the GM Liability Bill.)
- EDM 527 (Colin Challen MP) - 'Way to Go' on transport policy. Contact your MP via www.waytogo.org.uk.
- EDM 576 (Andy King MP) - Corporate Responsibility. (This supports the Corporate Resonsibility Bill.)
- EDM 817 (Andrew George MP) - Supermarket Code of Practice. See national FoE website.
- EDM 844 (Andy Reed MP) - GATS threatens clean water supply.
Alan Simpson, MP for Nottingham South, has signed all of these. None of the other MPs in Greater Nottingham have signed any. Vernon Coaker (Gedling) and John Heppell (Nottingham East) do not sign EDMs because they are Government Whips. Nick Palmer (Broxtowe) has also not signed any EDMs in this session of parliament. But Graham Allen (Nottingham North) has signed 39 other EDMs and Paddy Tipping (Sherwood) has signed 31. Kenneth Clarke (Rushcliffe) has signed 3 other EDMs.
