Residents around the City's main landfill site at Dorket Head have called in specialist solicitors to advise on action against WRG who operate the site. There have been over 600 complaints in the last 2 years, mainly of smells. The landfill comes within 120 metres of some people's homes. WRG wants to expand it.

Arnold Against Landfill have asked the Environment Agency and Gedling Borough Council to take enforcement action. Now they may also take civil action to force WRG to manage the site properly. (See Nottingham Post article 10 Jan 2011.)

WRG claim they installed new control equipment to solve the problem last year. That was followed by one of the worst stinks yet in November. (See Nottingham Post 13/12/2010.)
