On Halloween, Broxtowe MP Nick Palmer faced a 'trick or treat' lobby from Nottingham Friends of the Earth, following a fair trade event in Beeston.
Local FOE member Judith Dare told Dr Palmer: "We want developed countries to sign up to achieve 40% cuts in carbon emissions by 2020 – and no tricks by offsetting that with cuts elsewhere. And we want to see climate justice for the world’s poor – with the rich countries that have caused the problem providing funds to help the poor countries adapt. The good work of fair trade which we have been celebrating today in Beeston will not survive if climate change is not tackled."
The group asked Dr Palmer to lobby prime minister Gordon Brown and foreign secretary David Miliband to argue for stronger commitments on climate change at the international talks in Copenhagen in December.
